Trump Unveils $2,000 Payout Plan for most U.S. Citizens. By Kathy Moore.

President Donald Trump has unveiled a bold new promise aimed at many Americans — a $2,000 payout plan. In a series of posts on his Truth Social platform Sunday morning, Trump declared that a dividend of at least $2,000 per person would be paid out — with the exception of high-income individuals. However, details remain scarce, with no clear timeline or exact definition of who qualifies as “high income.”

This announcement comes amid the longest government shutdown in U.S. history, as millions of Americans face financial uncertainty and turn to food banks for support. Meanwhile, Trump was attending an extravagant dinner at his Mar-a-Lago estate featuring a luxurious menu including filet mignon, truffle potatoes, and pan-seared scallops.

Alongside the payout promise, Trump praised his administration’s tariff policies, calling opponents “fools” and boasting about a strong economy, record stock market highs, and low inflation. He highlighted that trillions of dollars are being collected from tariffs, with plans to reduce the national debt, currently at $37 trillion.

The Supreme Court recently heard arguments challenging Trump’s use of emergency powers to impose tariffs, with lower courts ruling against the legality of these actions. Trump questioned why the President is allowed to halt all trade with foreign nations but not place tariffs for national security reasons, describing this as unfair and contradictory to the vision of the nation’s founders.

On affordability, Trump stressed that lowering costs remains a Republican priority, citing Walmart’s Thanksgiving dinner prices being reportedly 25% lower compared to the Biden administration. However, critics quickly pointed out that this reduction is due to changes in the meal’s content rather than actual price cuts.

This focus on affordability comes as Democrats have made gains in recent elections, with figures like New York City’s Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani campaigning on addressing the high cost of living. White House Deputy Chief of Staff James Blair attributed Mamdani’s success to this relentless focus on affordability, despite Trump dismissing Democratic messaging as a “con job.”
