IRGC asserts that Iran maintains total control over its airspace after nighttime missile attacks by Carl Montel.

Tensions remain high in the Middle East tonight following a series of overnight missile strikes launched from Iran toward Israeli territory. According to Iranian state media, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, or IRGC, claims it used newly developed Fateh missiles in the latest barrage aimed at Israeli cities.

The IRGC declared that the operation, carried out in the early hours of Wednesday, was a direct show of strength and technological prowess, boasting that the Fateh missiles had pierced Israel’s defense systems. The statement, widely circulated across Iranian news platforms, portrayed the attacks as a message of power to Israel and its Western allies.

Quoting from the IRGC statement, Iranian media described the missiles as “powerful and maneuverable,” alleging they had struck targets inside Israel despite the country’s robust missile defense system. However, those claims have not been independently verified. Israeli officials have not confirmed any significant damage from the strikes.

In fact, reports from within Israel tell a different story. While missile sirens blared across central and northern regions of the country overnight, the Israel Defense Forces successfully intercepted the vast majority—estimated at between 80 and 90 percent—of incoming projectiles. According to Israeli defense sources, some missiles were allowed to fall in uninhabited areas, reducing the risk to civilian lives.

No direct fatalities have been reported from the attacks. However, Israel’s emergency response teams, including Magen David Adom, treated several individuals who sustained minor injuries while rushing to shelters as the sirens sounded.

This latest round of hostilities comes amid rising tensions between Iran and Israel, following a series of confrontations across the region. While Iran insists it retains full control over its airspace and strategic capabilities, its adversaries remain unconvinced by Tehran’s narrative of success.

Despite the fiery rhetoric and escalation, observers caution that much of Iran’s messaging is geared toward internal and regional audiences—an effort to project defiance in the face of mounting international pressure.

For now, Israel remains on high alert. Meanwhile, the international community continues to watch anxiously as another chapter unfolds in this decades-long regional rivalry.
