There are major developments on the eastern front of the war in Ukraine. Ukrainian forces have freed three strategic villages in the Donetsk region following what military officials are calling an audacious counteroffensive. Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi confirmed that troops successfully drove Russian forces out of Mykhailivka, Zelenyi Hai, and Volodymyrivka.

Syrskyi, speaking from the combat zone, described the Pokrovsk direction as one of the most difficult areas of the front. He emphasized that defending Ukraine’s independence is not just about words, but about daily risks and acts of courage. During his visit, he awarded soldiers who demonstrated extraordinary bravery and resilience.

“Our forces counterattacked effectively and reclaimed key villages,” Syrskyi said, extending gratitude to Ukrainian servicemen and women for their decisive actions in what he called critical days for the nation.

At forward command posts, Syrskyi met with corps and brigade commanders, receiving updates on the operational situation. He acknowledged the challenges, noting that Russian troops have concentrated their efforts heavily in the sector, but assured that Ukrainian forces will hold the line. He also confirmed that additional supplies of ammunition, drones, and electronic warfare equipment are being delivered to reinforce frontline units.

Meanwhile, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy praised the progress of Ukrainian defenders in Donbas, promising what he described as “unpleasant surprises” for Russian forces in the days ahead.

Just yesterday, the Ukrainian army announced the recapture of Zelenyi Hai, and prior to that, troops cleared six enemy positions in the Donetsk region. Stabilization operations are now underway in the Dobropillia salient, as Ukrainian forces consolidate their latest gains.
